Gold Award for Cashmere High School Redevelopment

On Friday 20th May, the NZ Commercial Project Awards Gala was held in Christchurch at the new Convention Centre. Staff from Cashmere High School attended to support Leighs Construction who received a Gold Award for their work on the redevelopment of the school and, in particular, their work on the Performing Arts Centre and Mathematics building.

Key features noted by the judges included the highest specifications for acoustic and sound performance, normally only seen in public theatres, in the auditorium, along with the salvage of rimu timber flooring from the old auditorium that was then recycled and installed in the new building.

Incidentally, the Supreme Award went to Ravenscar House, which is the legacy of foundation pupil Susan Wakefield and her late husband, James, and was the subject of an earlier post.
