The Foundation Pupils Award for All-Round Excellence in 2025 is proudly awarded to Cameron Mitchell. This prestigious $1000 prize is generously provided by the Foundation Pupils Association and recognizes a graduating Year 13 student who displays outstanding all-round excellence in both curricular and co-curricular areas.
Cameron Mitchell
Cameron Mitchell is described as an exemplary student with a mature approach. He is motivated to succeed, conscientious, and maintains a positive attitude towards learning. Teachers comment that he is a pleasure to have in class.
He has achieved excellent results in all of his subjects this year, ranking 1st in Physics, 6th in Japanese, 7th in Statistics, 8th in Chemistry and 13th in Calculus.
Cameron has been a Peer Leader, has taken part in the Health and Wellbeing Council Relay for Life, and volunteered to have his head shaved for the 2025 Shave for a Cure fundraiser.
He has been an outstanding Head Student for Cashmere High School this year. It has been a pleasure to work alongside him, and we extend our gratitude for his outstanding service and contribution to Cashmere High School.
In terms of co-curricular activities, Cameron has been a member of the Senior Boys Basketball team, competing in the Thomson Trophy, South Island Tournament and also qualifying to compete in the National Championships in Palmerston North. He was a constant presence in the team, always dependable and always giving 100%. He committed fully to every opportunity that came his way, and his dedication and constant drive to improve were his standout strengths as a member of the squad.
Cameron is also the South Island Secondary Schools’ B Grade Chess champion.
In 2026 he intends to study Health Sciences at Otago University.
